United States Pharmacopeia Drug Quality and Information

This website was created as a resource for people interested in drug quality and drug information and will provide vital information to those working in drug management programs worldwide. The focus is to provide information on priority medicines that are of interest to health care professionals working in developing countries. In addition, the site will discuss drug quality issues-focusing on substandard and counterfeit drugs.

Journal of Medical Internet Research

The Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR; Medline-abbreviation: J Med Internet Res), founded in 1999, is the first international scientific peer-reviewed journal on all aspects of research, information and communication in the healthcare field using Internet and Intranet-related technologies. The Journal is indexed/abstracted in MEDLINE, ISA (Information Science Abstracts), and INSPEC.

Cost Effectiveness and Resource Allocation

This open access, online journal publishes papers on all aspects of cost-effectiveness analysis, including conceptual or methodological tools and developments, trial-based or modelling-based economic analyses of current or new health care technologies, and policy analysis related to resource allocation and health care financing at a national or international level. Cost Effectiveness and Resource Allocation is interested in publishing a wide range of manuscripts presenting original research, reviews or commentaries.

The Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA)

COHSASA is an independent, non-partisan ngo that assists healthcare facilities to provide quality healthcare to all Southern African citizens by a process of empowerment, team-building and continuous quality improvement that is motivated by the goal of accreditation. The National Institute for Health Care Management Research and Educational Foundation (NIHCM Foundation) is a non-profit, non-partisan group that conducts research on health care issues. The Foundation disseminates research findings and analysis that promote and enhance access to health care and the efficiency and effectiveness of health care services and delivery.

Media/Materials Clearing House

The M/MC is part of the Johns Hopkins Population Information Program, which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development to provide health professionals with information and materials that enable them better to meet the need for health care services. The M/MC is part of the National Prevention Information Network, the U.S. reference, referral, and distribution service for information and materials on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and Tuberculosis, sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health Economics Unit

Is based at the Department of Public Health at the University of Cape Town. The HEU has compiled a database of public sector health care expenditure in South Africa and offers a number of formal training courses.
