This 23rd annual World Report summarizes human rights conditions in more than 90 countries and territories worldwide in 2012. It reflects extensive investigative work that Human Rights Watch staff has undertaken during the year, often in close partnership with domestic human rights activists.
Senior Researcher

PURPOSE:
Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint a Senior Researcher working from our Cape Town, Johannesburg or Durban office. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to manage research projects in line with the organisation’s goal of building an equitable, effective and efficient national health system in South Africa and the region. This is a one year, fixed-term contract position, renewable based on funding and performance.

Protecting access to generic medicines
Recent developments at national and international levels with regards to anti-counterfeiting legislation and actions have raised debate about such laws not undermining access to affordable generic drugs. This policy brief produced by EQUINET, SEATINI and TARSC points to the separate measures and mandates needed to combat firstly fraudulent trade mark and intellectual property (IP) infringement in counterfeit medicines by IP authorities, secondly to ensure that any anti-counterfeit measures protect TRIPS flexibilities, including for access to generic medicines.
