Mpilonhle Project is the community component for the HIV/AIDS anti-retroviral rollout (ARV) at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital in partnership with the Communicable Disease Clinic (CDC).The joint partnership is called Augmented Community HIV Action Project (ACHIVA), and is funded by Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) Secure the Future (STF) Program. Mpilonhle works to assist orphans and vulnerable children and people living with HIV and AIDS.

The HIV/AIDS Department, located in the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria(HTM) Cluster , was created in December 2000 to coordinate a more
strategic, organization-wide response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to enable WHO to provide enhanced technical support in HIV/AIDS to countries and regional offices.

Reduced queues, improved maternal health among GPG achievements
The Chronic Medication Distribution Project, which was launched to reduce long queues at clinics and improve maternal and child health, are amongst the achievements the Gauteng Provincial Government can boast about. This is according to MEC for Health Brian Hlongwa, who on Tuesday reflected on the departments achievements over the past six months.

The Faces of AIDS project implemented by the Directorate for HIV/AIDS in the Department of Health was part of a national mass media strategy aimed at providing a face for the epidemic. It was expected that endorsement of HIV/AIDS information on prevention, de-stigmatitaion and acceptance of peaople with AIDS (PWA's) by credible role models and PWA's themselves would challenge attitudes people have about AIDS.

2nd Wits HIV/AIDS in the Workplace - Research Symposium
In response to a growing public health crisis that targets primarily those most productive in the population, the public and private sectors have a significant role to play in managing HIV/AIDS and contributing to a comprehensive national response. South African-based research on HIV/AIDS in the workplace is at the cutting edge of the global response to the pandemic, and the need to document and replicate successful responses is critical. Wits Business School is hosting the second HIV/AIDS in the Workplace Research Symposium on the 29th and 30th of May.
Integrated HIV/AIDS services in district and primary health care settings - short course
This one-week short course aims to empower participants with a vision and tools to develop comprehensive and integrated approaches to HIV/AIDS at district and sub-district levels. It is a new short course developed jointly by Wits School of Public Health and Mdecins Sans Frontires (Doctors Without Borders). It draws largely on several recent experiences of managing comprehensive AIDS programs in both peri-urban and rural settings in southern Africa.

The AIDS Consortium is human rights organisation committed to openness and non-discrimination on the basis of HIV/AIDS. To this end, the Consortium brings together organizations and individuals in a network that processes information and works towards an equitable response to the pandemic. The AC is one of the largest functioning HIV AIDS affiliate-based networks in South Africa. We have in excess of 1000 affiliate members (AIDS Service Organizations and individuals) who work in the field of HIV/ AIDS. We provide numerous services to our affiliates training, resource centre, information dissemination, cyber caf, community forums and networks, material distribution, mentoring, as well as engaging in Advocacy and other key initiatives.
