Overall Job Function: Over the next 3-5 years, ICAP will be working with the Swaziland Ministry of Health to improve clinical supervision of HIV care and treatment services at the regional level. ICAP is recruiting Swazi physicians to fill key clinical positions at the regions to provide oversight and support to facilities that are de-centralizing services and providing care at the clinic level. The Regional Clinical Advisor will provide technical assistance and support for the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Program (ICAP) Swaziland to the Swaziland Ministry of Health (MOH) to improve and ensure the quality, utilization and scope of HIV/AIDS care and treatment services with an emphasis on families. They will also serve as a technical resource to the MOH and support the strengthening and programs, systems and linkages of family centered HIV services.

The availability of an increasing number of antiretroviral agents and the rapid evolution of new information has introduced substantial complexity into treatment regimens for persons infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In 1996, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation convened the Panel on Clinical Practices for the Treatment of HIV to develop guidelines for clinical management of HIVinfected adults and adolescents (CDC Report of the NIH Panel To Define Principles of Therapy of HIV Infection and Guidelines for the use of antiretroviral agents in HIV-infected adults and adolescents.
