The theme of this 13th edition of the Review, launched in December 2008, is Primary Health Care in South Africa: A review of 30 years since Alma Ata. The SAHR 2008 chapters focus on critical issues in Primary Health Care. The Review includes a national and international perspective of Primary Health Care, and focuses on areas such as policy and legislation, determinants of health, lifestyle, infectious diseases, mental health, maternal and child health, nutrition and environmental health. The SAHR reviews issues around human resources, finance, and information. It also looks at research on health systems, the role of the private and non-governmental organisations in Primary Health Care, and ends with the relevant health and related indicators chapter.

Knowledge Management and Monitoring

The overall goal of the HealthLink cluster is to disseminate knowledge. This is undertaken through the strategic use, analysis and distribution of health and related information to enhance evidence-based management. HealthLink is also involved in advocacy and equity projects which serve to improve the quality and availability of reliable information and support the implementation of the National Strategic Plan.

Public Health Association of South Africa

The mission of the Public Health Association of South Africa is to build an association of those involved in health and health-related activities to promote greater equity in health in South Africa. PHASA advocates equitable access to the basic conditions necessary to achieve health for all South African as well as equitable access to effective health care. PHASA will work with other public health associations and related organisations and advocate on national and international issues that impact on the conditions for a healthy society.

Global Health Trust

The aim of the Global Health Trust is to advance global health equity through strengthening the production, deployment, and empowerment of human resources for health in low-income countries. The work has been launched through a Joint Learning Initiative, a multi-stakeholder participatory learning process, to better understand the role of workers in health systems and to identify new strategies to strengthen their performance

Human Resources for Health

This open access, online journal publishes papers on all aspects of planning, producing and managing human resources for health - all those who provide health services worldwide. As such, it conveys the quantitative and qualitative products of research and analysis, and seeks to address policy issues and foster policy debate.

Reproductive Health Gateway

Includes some links but acts as a portal for searching for reproductive health information on the web. RHGateway spiders the contents of over 55 web sites with information on reproductive health (WHO, CDC, etc) providing a quick and easy way to search for reproductive health information.

Policy Project

POLICY Project works with host-country governments and civil society groups to achieve a more supportive policy environment for family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV/AIDS, and maternal health. Multisectoral engagement, community and organizational empowerment, and promotion of human rights and gender equality characterize POLICY's approaches to better reproductive health policies and programs.

Cost Effectiveness and Resource Allocation

This open access, online journal publishes papers on all aspects of cost-effectiveness analysis, including conceptual or methodological tools and developments, trial-based or modelling-based economic analyses of current or new health care technologies, and policy analysis related to resource allocation and health care financing at a national or international level. Cost Effectiveness and Resource Allocation is interested in publishing a wide range of manuscripts presenting original research, reviews or commentaries.

INASP Health

INASP - International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications. INASP-Health is a cooperative network for organizations concerned with improving access to reliable information for health professionals in resource-poor countries.
