2003-04-10 to 2003-04-11The South African Medical Association will be holding its 2nd Summit on the Future of Medicine at the Caesars Conference Centre in Johannesburg on 10 and 11 April 2003. Dr Kati Myllymaki, president of the World Medical Association, will open the first session with a global perspective on health care delivery. Other speakers will be representative of the medical, funding, and pharmaceutical industry, and include expertise in the legal, regulatory, government and consumer fields. The two-day event will offer a forum for different views on the funding of health care; dealing with HIV/AIDS and the provision of antiretrovirals; human rights in the delivery of health care; successes and failures of managed health care; regulations affecting the pharmaceutical industry; and alternatives for health care delivery for the future.
