5th WITS Skills Training Course


2005-02-11 to 2005-02-11

The regular Wits Clinical Skills Workshops will again be offered in 2005. The format will be similar to previous courses, with each participant being offered a chance to do 5 skills stations during the day. Participants will be given a chance ahead of time to book for their preferred stations. As before, the focus will be on practical skills relevant to rural hospital and general practice. Interested doctors are invited to enroll.

Details of the next course are as follows:

Date: Friday 11th February 2005

Time: 7H45 to 17H15.

Venue: Clinical Skills Unit, Centre for Health Sciences Education, 3rd floor, Wits Medical School, Parktown

Who will benefit: Community service doctors, rural doctors and general practitioners wishing to improve their skills postgraduate family medicine students doctors preparing for OSCE examinations

Cost: R500 per participant (includes refreshments, lunch, handouts, certificate)

CPD points: 7 points will be awarded for full participation

Notes:

  1. The numbers are limited to 35 participants, on a first come, first served basis. The closing date for bookings is 31st January 2005.
  2. Participants will be able to choose 5 practical skills sessions, out of a possible 10 or 12. Topics for this course are still to be determined, but may include CPR, chronic illness care, counselling, antenatal care, mental health assessment, ECG interpretation, CNS exam, eye exam, joint exam, C-spine x-rays, ENT examination.

Please ensure you provide your correct contact details to ensure booking for specific sessions once these are finalised: i.e. your name (written legibly), telephone no., fax no., and email address
  4. Payment is by cash or cheque. Cheques to be made out to "Department of Family Medicine". Payment is required to secure a place (50% non-refundable deposit). Invoices can be provided for doctors who require this.
