2005-08-22 to 2005-08-23WISER & Masisukumeni Womens Crisis Centre invite you to attend the above workshop. In this workshop members of the Psycho-Social Studies Centre at the University of the West of England, Bristol, U.K., will explore the links between society, structure and feelings with specific reference to gender based violence and HIV/AIDS. Structure and affect, the social and the psyche are inseparable in terms of the explanation of social phenomena. But whilst the psycho-social perspective seeks the connections between body, psyche and society, it also recognises the irreducibility of any one of these domains vis a vis the others. Because no single perspective can hope to offer an adequate explanation, the psycho-social perspective is interdisciplinary and may enable us to start thinking in a different way about these social problems and their possible solutions.
