Primary drug of abuse as % of all drugs of abuse

DefinitionPercentage breakdown of the primary drug of abuse reported by patients admitted to treatment centres that are part of the SACENDU sentinel surveillance system.

Note that poly-substance abuse is high, with 34% of patients in treatment centres in Gauteng and 55% in Cape Town reporting more than one substance of abuse.
