Reported cases of malaria (per 100 000)

DefinitionThe number of cases of malaria reported to the Department of Health per 100 000 population (for the relevant year). Also known as incidence of malaria.

Note: Since malaria transmission in South Africa is seasonal, occurring primarily between October to May, data may be reported by season rather than by calendar year. In this case data labelled 2001/02 season would be data for July 2001 to June 2002.
