Department of Provincial and Local GovernmentThe Department of Provincial and Local Government is responsible for developing and promoting the principles and provisions of South Africa’s new Constitution. The department is active in a wide variety of areas - from intergovernmental coordination and developing and supporting local government as a sphere of government to responsibility for the Masakhane campaign, mediating provincial boundary disputes, traditional leadership, coordinating disaster management and conducting constitutional education programmes.
