The Health Systems Trust (HST) is a dynamic NGO with a track record of supporting the development of a comprehensive and equitable health systems in South Africa. The Research programme, primarily responsible for commissioning and funding health policy and systems research, is seeking to fill the position of Programme Manager to provide research and technical input into the organisation’s Research activities.

The Research programme, primarily responsible for commissioning and funding health policy and systems research, is seeking to fill the position of Programme Manager to provide research and technical input into the organisation’s Research activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Programme Manager will:

  • Collaborate and work with the research team in identification of health issues to inform the research agenda.
  • Manage the research grant making process – from conceptualisation of research projects, review of research proposals to dissemination of outputs.
  • Provide technical support to new researchers.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Masters degree in Public Health or related discipline. In cases of only a Bachelor’s degree, a sound understanding and experience with the current South African Health Systems is essential.
  • Experience as a health systems researcher with ability to facilitate the use of research information for decision making in the health sector.
  • Experience in interacting with a variety of stakeholders operating at all levels of the health systems in order to determine priority research need;

Remuneration

Salary is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
