Senior Co-ordinator for the National STI Initiative

We are seeking to appoint a Senior STI Initiative Coordinator on a contract basis to provide management support to the national STI initiative. The national STI Initiative is a programme set up and designed to improve the quality of care for sexually transmitted infections through health systems strengthening, research, training and advocacy.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Coordinator for the National STI Initiative on a contract basis for two years.

The National STI Initiative is a programme set up to improve the quality of care for sexually transmitted infections through health systems strengthening, research, training and advocacy. The management of curable STIs is one of the most important strategies for the prevention of HIV/AIDS.

The job profile of the successful applicant will include:

  • Overseeing the STI Initiative's interventions in the private sector through conducting appropriate policy research and facilitating the implementation of best practice models for STI case management in the private sector
  • Conducting relevant operational research around STI treatment, counselling and partner notification in six health districts in the country.
  • Supporting the training needs of Department of Health STI coordinators.
  • Helping to analyse and coordinate the second round of a Behavioural Sentinel Surveillance research project

Requirements
This is a senior professional post. The ideal candidate should be in possession of a medical qualification or advanced clinical nursing experience, as well as a Masters qualification in some field of public health. S/he should demonstrate previous interest and experience in the field of HIV and STDs, as well as some research experience.

Remuneration:
A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with the HST’s Job grading will be available.

This is a 2-year contract position, which will be reviewed annually depending on future needs.

The incumbent should be prepared to travel, and will be based in either Durban, Johannesburg or Cape Town.
