The Health Systems Trust has been mandated by the National Department of Health to assist with the formal evaluation of the 18 national HIV Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) learning sites. We are looking for a Research Officer to assist with this important work. This is a one year contract position. RESEARCH OFFICER

The Health Systems Trust has been mandated by the National Department of Health to assist with the formal evaluation of the 18 national HIV Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) learning sites.

We are looking for a Research Officer to assist with this important work.

The job will entail the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducting periodic reviews of the PMTCT programme in different Sites
  • Helping to collate the experiences of the different sites with the PMTCT programme
  • Helping to organise and provide feedback to National, Provincial, Site managers and health workers of the findings from the research and evaluation
  • Working with and supporting other research organisations who have been sub-contracted to conduct aspects of the overall research and evaluation framework
  • Supporting the national Department of Health with the collation and presentation of information as required

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have an under-graduate degree in Health health sciences and a Masters post-graduate degree in public health. The candidate should be prepared to travel fairly extensively, and have the appropriate inter-personal skills to work with busy service providers and health managers. Previous experience in health systems and health policy research will be a strong advantage, as well as the ability to write well.

Remuneration

A salary package based on HST's remuneration rates and on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate will be provided.

This is a one -year contract position.
