Request for applications: A Rapid Appraisal of Obstetric Practices in the National PMTCT Sites

As part of the national programme for the Prevention of Maternal to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, a programme of research and evaluation is being implemented. One of the areas under investigation is the practice of obstetrics within the pilot sites.
The Health Systems Trust in conjunction with the National Department of Health would like to commission an individual / institution to:
- Evaluate the delivery and labour ward services in 9 of the 18 PMTCT sites to assess the clarity and appropriateness of current guidelines and policies.
- Review the national maternal health guidelines in light of the above.
- Propose appropriate recommendations to the Department of Health.
Time Requirements:
The rapid appraisal would consist of a one-day semi-structured evaluation per site, and two further days for write up, administration and travel.
The individual(s) conducting this appraisal would have to be medically qualified, or have an advanced diploma in midwifery. The Health Systems Trust would like expressions of interest from individuals and organisations who are able and interested in conducting this work.
