Some of HealthLink's key products are the South African Health Review, the weekly electronic HealthLink Bulletin, and electronic discussion lists. These two posts will be responsible for contributing to the overall electronic and hard copy information dissemination activities of HealthLink, as well assisting with the conceptualisation, commissioning, editing and production of the SAHR; facilitating the development of our electronic lists; and producing the HealthLink Bulletin. HealthLink is also intending to produce policy briefs on key health systems issues and responsibility for these briefs will fall within the scope of these two posts.
This is a CONTRACT position initially for a period of 1 year, renewable on funding and future needs
Responsibilities:
*Contribute to the overall HST Information Strategy (i.e. HealthLink operational strategy)
*Assist with the development, commissioning, editing and production of the South African Health Review and other publications as delegated by the Programme Director
*Develop, write and disseminate policy briefs on a regular basis utilising information coming from HST projects
*Manage and develop information systems for the organisation and funded projects, including web and email list services, database and content management solutions.
*Collate Healthlink Bulletin on a regular basis
Scan relevant information resources (external) for dissemination through HST medium
*Broker information as necessary
*Contribute to strengthening and raising the profile of the Health Systems Trust
Requirements:
*An appropriate university degree or equivalent in public health
*Five (5) years experience in public health and / or information systems, information management
*Good writing and communicative skills
*Computer, including spreadsheets, databases, word-processing, and internet/e-mail.
*Web development skills and more detailed experience with computer systems administration (such as web servers, list servers) would be an advantage
*Ability to analyse and interpret technical research information
*Knowledge and understanding of Primary Health Care, district health systems development, financial and personnel management, key health policies and national programmes
*Ability to work independently or with minimum support
Remuneration:
A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with the HST’s Job grading System.
