Senior Scientist (Pretoria)
The Gender & Health Group seeks a senior scientist to join an energetic,
multi-disciplinary team of researchers working primarily on gender-based
violence and health. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in
gender issues and will be able to work as an independent health researcher, with
experience writing proposals, securing research funds, managing research
projects, analysing data and writing up findings for publication. Minimum
qualifications and experience: a PhD in a public health related field, OR a
MPH/Masters degree in epidemiology with 5 years post-masters research
experience.
Senior Scientist / Project Manager (Umtata)
3 year contract position
The Gender & Health Group requires a project manager for an NIMH-funded
randomised controlled trial to evaluate an HIV prevention behavioural
intervention. This challenging position combines management of a large
prevention trial with great opportunities for research and publication from the
study. We require a person with a background in research and management who can:
- manage the project, its office and 10 staff;
- manage relationships with the local community, participants, collaborators
and other stakeholders;
- write publications from the study;
- develop the capacity of staff in the project.
Candidates must have:
- Masters degree in public health/epidemiology/social science/MMed;
- 3 years experience post-Masters degree in project management;
- experience in research.
