The Health Systems Trust is a non-government organisation (NGO) that supports the development of an equitable comprehensive health system that provides quality health care. A central activity of the organisation is the support and commissioning of research that addresses key health priorities (currently decentralisation and district systems development, monitoring equity in health and health care, and HIV/AIDS and STIs )

We have a vacancy in the leadership of the Initiative for Sub-district Support (ISDS) Programme



(2 year contract renewable depending on performance and/or need for position)

JOB PURPOSE

To provide leadership to and manage ISDS, a cluster of projects in the HST which supports the development of the district health system in South Africa. The Director will design and implement ISDS projects and activities to successfully achieve the strategic objectives of the Health Systems Trust, and contribute to the overall management of HST as a member of the senior management team.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Overall management and co-ordination of the cluster including planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation
  • Provide leadership and support to all ISDS project managers and staff
  • Ensure the dissemination and sharing of lessons learnt in district sites
  • Co-ordinate ISDS input in National district development
  • Develop linkages with relevant projects locally and internationally
  • Report to the CEO, and management meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

  • Post graduate qualification in public health
  • Management qualification (degree, diploma, certificate) or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least ten (10) years relevant experience in public health
  • Experience in programme/project management, including budget and staff management
  • Successful proposal writing and fundraising.

REMUNERATION : A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with the HSTs Job grading will be offered to the successful candidates.

Prospective incumbents should be prepared to travel, and preferably by based in Jhb, Dbn or Pretoria
