HST
2005-08-02

The Health System Trust in association with the Womens Health Research Unit at the School of Public Health of the University of Cape Town, is pleased to call for abstracts for the 2005 editions of its Understanding Human Sexuality Seminar Series. This seminar is being organised to co-incide with the initiative of the Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre in Nigeria. The seminar is open to the general public. It is an opportunity for scholars, students, social workers, practitioners, and policy makers interested in any aspect of the field of Sexuality in Africa to learn, share experiences and engender healthy, respectful, responsible and pleasurable sexuality.

The goal of the Understanding Human Sexuality Seminar Series is to promote more informed and affirming public dialogue on human sexuality, in order to engender positive changes in relevant policies and programmes on the African continent.

The Objectives are as follows:

  • Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, lessons learned and advocacy with a view to expand thinking and action in favour of healthy, respectful, responsible and pleasurable sexuality
  • Contribute to the documentation of views, experiences and emerging knowledge on sexuality-related issues in Africa

The theme for 2005 Seminar for the third quarter of 2005 is:

  • Sexuality, Beyond Reproduction
