Understanding Human Sexuality Seminar Series Call for Abstracts

The Health System Trust in partnership with the Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre and the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus) is pleased to call for abstracts for the 2006 quarterly edition of its Understanding Human Sexuality Seminar Series.
The seminar is open to the general public. It is an opportunity for scholars, students, social workers, practitioners, and policy makers interested in any aspect of the field of Sexuality in Africa to learn, share experiences and engender healthy, respectful, responsible and pleasurable sexuality
The goal of the Understanding Human Sexuality Seminar Series is to promote more informed and affirming public dialogue on human sexuality in order to engender positive changes in relevant policies and programmes on the African continent.
The Objectives are as follows:
&149 Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, lessons learned and advocacy with a view to expand thinking and action in favour of healthy, respectful, responsible and pleasurable sexuality
&149 Contribute to the documentation of views, experiences and emerging knowledge on sexuality-related issues in Africa
Theme for the Seminar is: Sexuality and Social Institutions with a focus on Religion, Beliefs and Marriage
And the deadline for receipt of abstracts is Friday 06 January 2006
If you are resident in Pretoria or Johannesburg (or visiting South Africa) and would like to make a presentation, you are welcome to submit an abstract (300 words maximum) with your full names, contact address, phone number, email address and a brief about yourself as you would like it to appear in the seminar proceedings. Full-length papers will be requested only from short listed candidates. The proposed date for the 1 day seminar is January 27 2006 at 1000, at the Human Resource Training Centre, 5 th floor Clinical Pathology Building , University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus), Pretoria
Publication
Selected seminar papers will be published every quarter by the Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre (ARSRC) based in Lagos , with the permission of the authors. At the end of the year, there will be four (4) rich Africa volumes.
