Health Information Systems Facilitators (Closing: 31 March 2006)

We are seeking to appoint full-time Facilitators to implement and manage projects aimed at supporting the development of effective and efficient health information systems and capacity development of personnel involved with health information systems.

LOCATION : Any of the major centres in South Africa

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Facilitate and co-ordinate the development of health information systems and software programmes
  • Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of health information systems and software programmes
  • Facilitate the establishment of monitoring and evaluation systems and processes
  • Mentoring and technical support to stakeholders in line with the stipulations of the tenders and the objectives of the projects
  • Manage the projects at provincial level in line with the strategic objectives and policy statements of each project
  • Support the Project Manager/Technical Advisor in designing and aligning activities of the HST with its strategic vision
  • Provide support to National Department of Health in area of speciality.
  • Mentoring and support of interns .

REQUIREMENTS :

Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree (or equivalent) in health or social science
  • Post graduate qualification (degree, diploma, certificate or equivalent)

Experience

  • 5 years working experience in Health Information Systems and Public Health
  • Experience in NGO environment an advantage
  • Experience in the use of the DHIS software

Competencies

  • Considerable t T echnical ly and O o perational competen t ce in DHIS software and use of information for management purposes
  • Proficient in facilitating skills, group skills and dynamics, conflict management and managing diversity
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and communication and learning styles
  • Ability to liaise with managers at all levels of the health system
  • Ability to act as mentor
  • Ability to provide leadership and to manage people through participative and empowering approach
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with health departments and other customers
  • Knowledge of PHC, DHS and priority programs such as STI/HIV/AIDS/TB and MCWH .
  • Knowledge of health support systems such as drug management and transport management .
  • Ability to perform complex work in analyzing health information
  • Computer literate (internet, e-mail, MsOffice programs)
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with some support
  • Valid drivers license

REMUNERATION :

A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with the HST's Job Grading System will be offered to the successful candidates.
