Senior Lecturer: Public Health Epidemiology & Health Information Systems

The SoPH in the Faculty of Community & Health Sciences at the University of the Western Cape has established itself as a leader in the Southern African region in Public Health teaching, research and service development. Its innovative educational and research activities focus on the implementation of programmes within district health systems.
Applications for this position, to start as soon as possible, are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons.
Responsibilities would include:

Teaching epidemiology and health information systems to
Masters students
-
epidemiological and health information systems research,
particularly largescale surveys
-
assisting the health departments in Southern and East Africa
to improve their health management information systems and their health
programme information systems.
To this end, you will need at least a Masters degree plus a
minimum of fi ve years working experience in the fi eld of Public Health or
Epidemiology, or Health Information Systems. A doctoral or specialist degree
(either conferred or nearing completion) in any of the above would be highly
advantageous.
The position is located in Cape Town, but will entail some
travelling within Southern and East Africa.
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifi cations and
