We are seeking to appoint a Project Coordinator for a period of one year to coordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of activities to improve the quality of primary health care through strengthening the use of health information.


A. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordination of project activities

  • To coordinate activities between the UWC School of Public Health facilitators and HST facilitators in relation to the CHD component
  • To develop operational plans, monitor and evaluate the process, and generate reports for the project.

2. Provision of managerial and technical support

  • Facilitate implementation of appropriate strategies to strengthen the use of health information and improve the quality of care in TB, STi, HIV, VCT and Child Health Programmes in two identified LSAs (Local Service Areas)
  • Strengthen the supervisory system and improve capacity to use health information for service improvements
  • Organise six joint monthly review meetings
  • Create and maintain email list of all stakeholders and submit weekly reports on developments
  • Record important lessons learned and share with Provincial and National DOH to inform policy development.

B. REQUIREMENTS

1. Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree (or equivalent) in health or social science
  • Post-graduate qualification and/or appropriate work experience at supervisory level.

2. Experience

  • 5-7 years working experience in Public Health at a similar level
  • Working experience in Health Information Systems
  • Working experience in Programme Management or support at supervisory level

3. Competencies

  • Technical and operational competence
  • Sound planning, monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Financial and budget management ability
  • Sound group facilitation skills (ability to manage conflict and diversity)
  • Working knowledge of PHC, DHS and STI, HIV, TB and MCWH programmes
  • Working knowledge of health systems (information, drug and transport management)
  • Computer literacy (MSOffice programmes, Internet and e-mail)
  • Sound communication and presentation skills.

The candidate must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel extensively.

Candidates based in the Eastern Cape preferred, but alternatively must be prepared to travel regularly to the site.

C. REMUNERATION: A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with the HST's Job Grading System will be offered to the successful candidate.
