We have a vacancy for the position of Chief Executive Officer, who will provide leadership to the organisation, develop and execute strategic plans and organisational policies and ensure good governance of the HST, with the support of the Board of Trustees.
The Health Systems Trust is a non-government organisation that actively supports the development of an equitable comprehensive health system that provides quality healthcare.
Three year Performance-based Contract
Location: Preferably Durban or Gauteng
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction in conjunction with the Board.
- Programme/project development: Translate the strategic mission of the organisation into implementable programmes and projects.
- Programme/project integration and co-ordination: Ensure integration of programme/project activities around key organisational goals and objectives.
- Organisational and financial management: Establish and/or improve appropriate organisational structures and systems necessary for good governance and compliance with relevant legislation and standards/codes.
- Fundraising: Ensure that the HST secures the necessary resources needed to carry out its programme of action and to ensure that the obligations of funders are met.
- Stakeholder management and liaison : Create and manage profile of the organisation within the environment it operates and ensure proper liaison and communication with relevant stakeholders, including government, funders and communities.
Requirements:
- A post-graduate public health (or equivalent) degree.
- Management/ leadership qualifications.
- At least 10 years of relevant management experience, 5 of which should be at senior level in medium to large size organisations.

Remuneration:A performance-based salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered to the successful candidate.
This is a 3 year contract position, and will be extended depending on the incumbent performance and need for the position by the HST.
