Advocacy Manager, Trainer and Administrator Vacancies
The AIDS Consortium

The AIDS Consortium is human rights organisation committed to openness and non-discrimination on the basis of HIV/AIDS. To this end, the Consortium brings together organizations and individuals in a network that processes information and works towards an equitable response to the pandemic. The AC is one of the largest functioning HIV AIDS affiliate-based networks in South Africa. We have in excess of 1000 affiliate members (AIDS Service Organizations and individuals) who work in the field of HIV/ AIDS. We provide numerous services to our affiliates training, resource centre, information dissemination, cyber caf, community forums and networks, material distribution, mentoring, as well as engaging in Advocacy and other key initiatives.


Advocacy Manager

The successful incumbent will report to the Executive Director, working closely with Training and Resources Departments. The AIDS Consortium is looking to recruit an AIDS activist with:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification

  • Extensive experience in HIV AIDS, treatment literacy and related issues

  • Community development experience and knowledge of local structures

  • An affinity with the goals and objectives of the AIDS Consortium

  • Minimum three years relevant advocacy experience in HIV/AIDS and related areas

  • Team player

  • Project management experience

  • Extraordinary people skills and facilitation

  • Excellent computer and written skills microsoft office

  • Fluency in at least two South African languages would be an advantage

  • A valid drivers licence and ability to travel extensively

Key Performance areas will include:

  • Development of appropriate Advocacy campaigns nationally

  • Media Liaison

  • Facilitation of affiliate committees and provincial aids forums

  • Project management of various campaigns and programmes

  • Stakeholder networking and liaison

  • Report writing

  • Numerous other tasks with training and resources team

Remuneration cost to company R 180 000 negotiable on a renewable short term contract.

Administrator /Logistics Coordinator

The AIDS Consortium is looking to recruit an AIDS activist with:

  • Experience and passion for community and HIV AIDS

  • An affinity with the goals and objectives of the AIDS Con sortium

  • Two years administrative, logistics skills ands experience

  • Team player

  • Extraordinary people skills

  • Excellent computer skills microsoft office

Key Performance areas will include:

  • Logistics and administration for the organisation

  • Training logistics and coordination

  • Meeting planning & minute taking

  • Administrative duties for the Executive Director

  • Reports

Remuneration cost to company R 72 000 negotiable on a renewable one year contract

Trainer

The AIDS Consortium is looking to recruit an AIDS activist with:

  • Sound Experience in HIV/ AIDS

  • An affinity with the goals and objectives of the AIDS Consortium

  • Three years experience as a trainer

  • Good knowledge and experience of community based organisations

  • Team player

  • Extraordinary people skills

  • Good computer skills- Microsoft office

  • Organisational development an advantage

  • Fluency in at least 2 South African languages

  • Drivers Licence an advantage

Key Performance areas will include:

  • Facilitating training for AC affiliates and clients

  • Conducting site visits around Gauteng Province to mentor CBOs

  • Providing telephonic support to CBOs

  • Providing support for training logistics

Remuneration cost to company R R60, 000.00 negotiable on a one year renewable contract
