Bophirima District office

Requirements:

  • Basic Medical Degree (MBChB or equivalent qualification)
  • Postgraduate qualification in family medicine (MFamMed or equivalent qualification)
  • A proof of registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a family physician must be attached

Recommendations:

  • 2-year qualification as a family physician
  • Project management and teaching experience is essential

Duties:

  • Facilitate the provision of PHC services in the District and support to District Hospitals
  • Provide patient care in the District Hospitals, inter alia through the management of problem cases, support of junior doctors, supervision of students and trainees, and provision of emergency medical care.
  • Arrange and supervise a suitable family medicine internship rotation
  • Establish family medicine training in the hospitals, as part of the development of a postgraduate training programme
  • Facilitate undergraduate training programs in family medicine/rural health
  • Develop CPD programmes in all the hospitals in the District
  • Support and supervise community service medial officers within the family medicine component
  • Develop and implement protocols of common conditions in primary care
  • Support HIV/AIDS programmes in the hospitals
  • Support Quality Improvement in the hospitals
  • Give support to peripheral hospitals and clinics in the district as necessary
  • Conduct research in Primary Care
