District Health Development Intern

HST: District and Community Development Cluster

One year contract

LOCATION: Johannesburg

JOB PURPOSE: To assist and work under the supervision of the HST Gauteng Facilitator, on the implementation and support for the District Health Systems Development in Gauteng, and to develop basic competencies required for District Health Facilitators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To assist with and become competent in the facilitation and provision of technical support in the province in the following areas:
    District Health Expenditure Reviews
    District Health Plans
    Clinic Supervision Policy Implementation
    District Development
  2. Liaison with local and district municipalities
  3. Assist with the compilation of project reports
  4. Assist with the documentation and presentation of lessons learnt
  5. Participate in the preparation of publications.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Appropriate university degree or equivalent in Health or Social Science
  • At least one years working experience in a Primary Health Care setting

COMPETENCIES:

  • Facilitation skills
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Computer literate (internet, e-mail, MS Office programs and Spreadsheets)
  • Knowledge of Primary Health Care, District Systems Development, Health Information Systems, Local Government and priority health problems
  • Valid drivers license and preferably with own vehicle

REMUNERATION: A salary package based on current Intern Remuneration in HST.
