The Ibhayi Living Centre (ILC) for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) seeks to be an integrated service provider, offering a holistic package of services that will assist those living with HIV and AIDS to live healthy productive lives.

The Living Centre is envisioned as a one-stop drop-in centre providing a comfortable and safe gathering place where PLHIV can meet, speak with peer leaders, receive counseling, join support groups, study educational materials on HIV, medication/treatment trials, obtain medical and mental health care, receive nutritional information, and receive referrals to appropriate community resources and services in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

The Centre's objectives include

  • Providing information and education for newly diagnosed PLHIV
  • Encouraging healthy lifestyles among PLHIV through good nutrition, exercise, and stress management
  • Providing adherence counseling for pre-treatment and on going adherence counseling once on ARVs
  • Assist PLHIV with accessing skills training & development, job opportunities, and forging links with income generating projects
  • Providing PLHIV access and links to support and/or community services
  • Ensuring meaningful involvement of PLHIV at all levels of service delivery
  • Providing palliative care services which will assist PLHIV to live life fully

Responsibilities

  • To manage the implementation and development of the ILC as an innovative centre for PLHIV
  • Fundraising, marketing, public relations and business development of the centre
  • Organisational Leadership and strategic planning
  • To act as an agent of the Board of directors
  • Effective financial and human resource management
  • Managing program development and evaluation
  • Reporting on Centre activities and progress

Required Experience

  • 10 years plus of successful management experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to the vision of the centre
  • Strong financial and personnel management experience
  • Experience working in or with the non profit sector, private sector and government
  • Successful fundraising experience
  • Bachelor's degree a minimum requirement

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating and mediating skills
  • Excellent marketing and fundraising skills
  • Lateral and analytical thinking ability and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle

Reports to: South Africa Partners Executive Director
Deadline: 21 January 2008
Salary Range: R180 000 to R220 000 (dependent on experience). Includes health benefits.
