Post-test Support Services (PTSS) Counsellors / Team Leaders X2

The successful candidates will work directly with the PTSS Coordinator and local PTSS service providers in implementing the post-test support component of the study.

Duties:

  • Provide information on PTSS activities and services to service providers and service users
  • Provide on-going counselling, including crisis counselling, to clients attending post test support activities
  • Assess PTSS participants needs and design and implement activities based on these needs
  • Work closely with the PTSS facilitators in setting up and facilitating psychosocial support groups and moving on workshops
  • Refer participants attending PTSS to relevant support, treatment and care service providers for further assistance
  • Regularly complete the necessary documentation required for enrolling clients into PTSS
  • Complete the necessary documentation in referring clients to other PTSS referrals
  • Ensure that the PTSS service and stakeholders database is regularly updated
  • Provide quality assurance, mentorship and supervision of PTSS staff
  • Compile regular feedback reports on PTSS.

Minimum requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in the field of social/human sciences preferably (psychology, social work or a related helping profession)
  • Relevant experience in counselling in general, HIV/AIDS community, prevention, care and counselling work
  • Relevant experience in training and facilitating groups
  • Demonstrated computer literacy
  • Fluency in isiZulu and English

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational, administrative and problem solving skills
  • Ability to actively contribute to team performance and work independently
  • Willingness to work over weekends and in rural communities

Successful candidates will be required to work flexible 40-hour week. From time to time the incumbent may be required to work beyond these hours.

The HSRC offers attractive market-related packages. Depending on qualifications, experience and recent performance, the annual cost-to-company package starts from R54 100.00 per annum. The positions offered will initially be on an 11-month contract. The contract may be extended depending on the availability of donor funding.
