This Newsletter is addressed to all health workers in the Eastern Cape Province whether employed by the Provincial Department of Health or a Local Authority. It is intended to inform and allay uncertainties that health workers may have about the restructuring of the health care system.

The restructuring that is currently happening relates to:
- Reorganizing the health service to be in line with the new boundaries of local governments and
- Local government playing a more eaningful role in health care, thus fulfilling its constitutional obligation to provide municipal health services.
While there is some clarity on the re-structuring, it has to be said that there are many questions that remain unanswered. It is hoped that this Newsletter will at least help to keep you informed of what we do and what we dont know.
