Scaling up the Expanded Public Works Programme - Executive Summary

This executive summary is divided into two main sections. The first part is the key recommendations of the study. The second part is a summary of the seven main reports that comprise the study.
The study aims were to:
- Review the initiatives of the social sector departments understand the models
- Analyse how departmental structures could be realigned to achieve increased service delivery & expansion in EPWP
- Build economic models and estimating the costs and social benefits of existing and new work opportunities.
Following a review of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) expenditure at the inception of the EPWP, the areas outlined below were suggested as possibilities for expansion. The DBSA agreed to assist the cluster to quantify the opportunities and implications of expanding the EPWP to these sectors. This study is the result.
