Treatment Monitor: Health Systems
The HIV/AIDS epidemic has given rise to an enormous challenge to the current health system. Just managing to transform its orientation to building an integrated and decentralized system that reaches all citizens with implementation at primary health care, HIV/AIDS is a huge challenge. The mere numbers of people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS has been said to crowd out other diseases and other presenting illness that patients present at a health facility for. There are also concerns that health care providers who themselves are affected and infected need to be cared for and supported. The insertion of new and complex services for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS is in the process of being implemented and managed.
