A new National Emergency Operation Centre for South Africa at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases
       



The unprecedented 2013-2015 Ebola virus outbreak in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone highlighted the need for an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to coordinate the response, as normal management resources were easily overwhelmed by the complex emergency that arose in these countries.
