| PROF SALOME MASWIME Salome Maswime is the Chairperson of the Health Systems Trust's Board of Trustees and the Head of the Global Surgery Division at the University of Cape Town. She is also an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, the vice-President of the Women in Global Health Chapter in South Africa, and a member of the FIGO Committee on Ethical Aspects of Human Reproduction. Maswime completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and has received numerous awards for her research contribution, including the Trailblazer and Young Achiever Award from the President of South Africa in 2017, and being named as one of the 20 Young Shapers of the Future in Health and Medicine by Encyclopaedia Britannica.
DR SANDILE BUTHELEZI
Dr Buthelezi is a seasoned public health medical practitioner with more than 15 years’ experience in health governance, policy, and programme management. After serving as a clinician and later Medical Superintendent in various hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State province, he served for 10 years as KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial head of Strategic Health Programmes which encompassed HIV, TB, maternal child and women’s health, nutrition, and communicable diseases programmes.
DR AYANDA NTSALUBA
Dr Ayanda Ntsaluba was appointed as an Executive Director of Discovery Limited in July 2011. He holds a medical degree from the University of Natal, specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, holds an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the University of London, and an Executive MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. Before joining Discovery, he served as a Deputy Director- General for Policy and Planning in the National Department of Health from 1995-1998 and as Director-General of Health in South Africa from September 1998 to August 2003. In September 2003, Ayanda was appointed Director-General of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa – a task he performed until March 2011.
DR THEMBA MOETI Themba
Moeti, currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Health Systems Trust, holds
qualifications in medicine and public health. With a background in health
systems policy development and programme implementation, particularly in the
areas of HIV and TB, he has extensive experience dating back to 1995. His expertise includes the development and
review of national TB programme guidelines, participation in HIV and TB
operational research, and collaboration with governments to enhance
sustainability and programme performance. In Botswana, he served in various
roles, including Managing Director of the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS
Partnerships, Head of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Unit and Deputy
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health.
MS ASHNIE PADARATH
Ashnie Padarath has over 20 years' experience in the public health arena. She is presently the Director of the Research and Implementation Science Unit at Health Systems Trust. She has previously served as a Technical Advisor and the Managing Editor of the South African Health Review. She has also co-edited several editions of the District Health Barometer. Ashnie holds a Master's degree in Public Health..
MS NOLUTHANDO NDLOVU
Noluthando Ndlovu is a Senior Researcher with a decade of experience in public health research. Specializing in data-driven projects, she excels in project management, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis. With a MSc degree specialising in spatial epidemiology and GIS she is currently the Project lead of the District Health Barometer project at HST.
