SAHR 2018 Call for Abstracts
       


​​​​​​​​​​​​​The South African Health Review (SAHR) is an accredited peer reviewed publication which is widely respected as an authoritative source of research, analysis and reflection on health systems.

​Offering a South African perspective on prevailing local and international public health issues, the ​aims of the Review are to advance the sharing of knowledge, to feature critical commentary on policy implementation, and to offer empirical understandings for improving South Africa’s health system.

The editorial team of the 2018 SAHR is currently seeking abstracts that give consideration to advances made in the health system over the past 21 years, and reflect on areas of improvement for the future. In particular, abstracts that address the following range of topics are requested:

  • ​​​Hum​an resources for health (e.g. community health workers, production and distribution of health care workers; plann​ing and forecasting, task shifting etc.)​

  • Responses to the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases

  • Progress and challenges towards implementing universal health coverage​


Preference will be given to manuscripts that will address the following issues:
  • Critical review of the implementation of policies and programmes in the health sector;

  • Examples of good practices and multisectoral partnerships with demonstrated effectiveness

  • Implementation and scale-up of initiatives designed to strengthen the health system

Please take note of the following:
  • The body of the abstract may not exceed 350 words.

  • Abstracts must clearly show the name, affiliations and contact details (e-mail and phone number) of the corresponding author.

  • Guidelines for authors are accessible at www.hst.org.za and strict adherence to these guidelines is essential.

  • Submission of an abstract for the SAHR does not guarantee acceptance. All abstracts will undergo a systematic peer review selection process.

Notification of status of abstract: 14 February 2018
Deadline for full manuscripts: 30 May 2018
